Apple Pie Practical

The Apple Pie Practical!
Pastry
Serves 3 (Makes 6 tarts)                                                                                                                    
·         1 cups flour
·         75g shortening
·         A pinch of salt
·         3 tbs cold water
Direction
1.      Mix flour and salt in a large bowl
2.      Cut in shortening until crumbly
3.      Add in water, one tablespoon at a time until the dough forms a ball.
4.      Refrigerate until ready to use

Mini Apple Pie
Makes 6 tarts (Serves 3)
Ingredients
·         2 Apple
·         3 tbs White sugar
·         2 tsp Butter
·         1/8 tsp Cinnamon (optional)
·         Walnut (optional)
·         Almond figs (optional)
·         Pistachios (optional)
·         Cream crackers (optional)
·         Breadcrumbs (optional)
Optional things: To your taste
Directions
1.      Peel and core apples
2.      Chop apples (small chunks)
3.      Melt sugar on medium high heat
4.      Add butter, mix thoroughly
5.      Add in chopped apples. Cook until apples are caramelized.
6.      (Optional) Add in optional ingredients.
7.      Flatten pastry (very thin base) onto the aluminum trays
8.      Top with apple topping.
9.      Cover with another thin layer of pastry. Score the pastry.
10.  Bake in pre-heated 175 degrees oven for 30 minutes or till pastry is golden brown.

Hi all.

Do note that:

Its 80g for the shortening. The pastry would be a little too hard (if 75g) if there was too little shortening but it would be too soft if there were too much of it. According to experiments and preferred taste.
